I have often wondered what life is really all about? Why are we here? What is our purpose?
As I get older I'm realizing that it really doesn't matter why we are here, or what our purpose is.
The facts are, that we are here now, and that we know there will be an end, so it's what we do while we are here that is really important. We do need to have a sense of purpose, but we don't need to spend years looking for our purpose. Instead just make living our best life possible our purpose.
Do we take life too seriously? Absolutely we do! We get so wrapped up in what is right or wrong, good or bad, that we forget to have fun along the way. We forget that life is a journey, with limited time in which to enjoy this extraordinary planet. I personally don't believe that life was ever meant to be this serious, this competitive or this complex. Life isn't complicated, it is us humans that are!
We overanalyze, we overthink, we overcomplicate, and we have unrealistic expectations. We seem to put too much pressure on ourselves to be someone or something other than what we are. We want to control everything, to be the best at everything, live in the biggest house, drive the best car, all while having a happy and fulfilling life. There is nothing wrong with wanting better but what cost are you really willing to pay? Are you willing to put your mental and physical health at risk? Are you willing to give up what is truly most important to you? One day you may realize that you spent too much time worrying about shit that didn't matter!
The one emotional state that you want to avoid is REGRET! It is so sad to see someones life fall apart over something that was preventable. Unless we can learn what our priorities in life should be, then we are always at risk of regrets. THINGS are not important, STATUS is not important, WHO IS RIGHT OR WRONG is not important, but PEOPLE are. At the end of the day, we all want the same thing. We want to be accepted, loved and happy! Sounds simple doesn't it? If only that was the case!
Stop putting so much pressure on yourself and learn to live more in the present. Most of our worrying is related to either the past or the future and that is totally unproductive. We only have this moment in time, and if we insist on making that miserable for ourselves and for others then we are wasting valuable time. Always keep in mind that time is a limited commodity and we need to use it wisely. We can't have it back again, and we can't store it for another time, so once it has passed it is gone forever.
We are all living today in a constant state of "doing", and not taking enough time out for the things that are most important to us. You are here right now on this earth, and although we are living in extraordinary times, you have to ensure that being happy is at the top of the list.
