According to the Oxford Dictionary authenticity is the quality of being real or true!
So why wouldn't you want to live an authentic life?
The truth is that we have all become accustomed to living a somewhat false way of life. Many are living a lifestyle well beyond their current means, and we are all wrapped up in material items and consumerism.
The fact is that living this way is stressful and adds unnecessary pressure to keep up the pretense, aka keep up with the Joneses! It's like leaving the house and putting a disguise on for the day and only removing it when we are safely home again. Nobody want to live that way, and you don't have to.
Living your truth has to start with acceptance. Accepting that you are enough, that you deserve to be free from all the bullshit and just be YOU! We are all on this journey of life together and it truly is a short journey, so don't waste time trying to prove anything to others. As individuals we all have unique qualities and that is what makes us different than others. Appreciate and celebrate your uniqueness. Yes, we all have habits that need to be changed and issues that can be worked on, but we have to accept who we are today. Learn self compassion and acceptance and let go of the pretence!
Being anything less than authentic is an injustice to not only yourself but all those who are a part of your life. To feel comfortable in your own skin every day and let others see, and feel the true depth of your sincerity is what we all need to strive for. Living your truth is essentially freedom!
We have to be enjoying our journey through life every day, and I truly believe that authenticity is the key! Once you understand the amount of stress that is caused by trying to be what you are not, you will learn to appreciate yourself for who you are. It gives you so much freedom when you can finally just accept yourself, and you begin to really understand yourself.
If this resonates with you, you are certainly not alone. If you feel as though you are wearing a mask or hiding behind your fears, not wanting the world to see the real you, then let's work together to create change. This is no way to live, and you must stop giving in to the pressures of others, of society, and of the world to be something other than who you are.
YOU ARE ENOUGH!
JUST THE WAY YOU ARE!
