The "lowdown" on life coaching!

Updated: Jun 15, 2020

I'm sure that some of you have looked at my social media posts, website or blogs, and thought to yourself, "what the hell is life coaching?" Some of you may even believe that it is outrageous to hire someone to coach you in life. What I want to show you today, is that in many cases it makes total sense. Will life coaching be beneficial to you? I will let you make that decision yourself.

The following information in just my opinion, from my experience, and relates only to my life coaching practice.

Your life is affected daily by all sorts of things, the people you encounter during your day, the places you visit, your journey to those places, the food you eat, your finances, your family/relationships, the amount of sleep you get, and your reactions to all of those things. These interactions will obviously be different day to day, and very different for each individual. Basically, what I am saying, is that you are bombarded every day with "life events" and "life choices", and you get to decide how your day will look and feel. If your day normally runs fairly smoothly, you are generally happy and content, you enjoy your work, come home in a good mood, eat well and get lots of quality sleep, then I would say you are good, and probably don't need any coaching. If, on the other hand, you feel overwhelmed by life, dislike how your day goes, get annoyed in traffic, criticize others, criticize yourself, can't make a decision about anything, eat junk food, constantly worry about money and rarely sleep well, then a life coach will be beneficial to you.

Life coaching will take stock of where you are right now and the things/emotions that you struggle with. There are probably some areas of your life that are better than others, perhaps you love your job, but your home life is miserable. Maybe you are overwhelmed by work but happy with your personal life. Whatever your situation, it is important to realize that if any one area of your life isn't going well, it will eventually affect all other areas of your life. If you come home from an unhappy and stressful day at work, cursing the traffic on the way home, do you think you will be in the mood to socialize, or be patient and kind to your family? This is why it is so important to take action and deal with any issues before they take over and dominate your entire life.

A life coach deals with the present and the future, so if you just need someone to help you get on the right track, to motivate you, to guide and support you, then this would be a good fit for you. If you are struggling with your direction in life, dealing with daily anxiety, having relationship issues, have financial worries, have weight or body image issues, feel hopeless and alone, or just can't seem to make a decision, then I do feel that a life coach would be able to help. A life coach will work with you to assess where you are and where you want to go. Basically you are at point A and want to get to point Z, but there are lots of points to pass in between. These are your obstacles/self limiting beliefs, and you would work with your coach to push through those obstacles, one at a time. There has to be a plan, there has to be focus, there will be hard work ahead, and there certainly will be a finish line!

Most of us are guilty of paying $5+ for a coffee, dining out too often, buying items that we just don't need, so what is so wrong with investing in YOUR mental health? You would pay for someone to fix your computer, you would pay for someone to fix your car, so why not your "LIFE"? I will leave you to ponder those questions!

As your life coach I want nothing more than to partner with you, to help and support you to live your best life possible, and to unleash all that potential! YOU, my clients, are my passion in life!

If you have any specific issues that you are struggling with, or just need someone to listen to you, then please contact me, or go online and book a "no obligation" free consultation to see what you think.

Have an awesome weekend!
