What does mindfulness mean to you? For me, mindfulness is being aware of what is going on right now your life. We get so busy in our 24/7 world that we seem to just rush around, always thinking ahead to what we need to do next, and not fully enjoying every moment. If we are not worrying about the future, then we are stressing over the past. Our minds are like a tornado of thoughts, spiralling out of control, which can be exhausting. Being fully present in our own lives is something we are all able to do, we just need to figure out the best way for us to achieve that. For some of us it is easier to accomplish this through the art of yoga or meditation, which has long been know to help achieve mindfulness. If you find this difficult or it just doesn't appeal to you, then simply practice being mindful around your everyday activities, like eating a meal. Focus on the smell, the taste, the texture and how it makes you feel. This is the easiest way to start to be mindful and the more we practice it, the easier it becomes. Mindfulness can help improve our physical health, our mental health and our general wellbeing. I believe that in order to make any changes in our lives it is crucial to become more mindful so that we increase our self awareness of what our live is really like right now. Only then can we decide what needs to be changed for us to live a happier and more successful life.
